In the summer of 2012 our family purchased Sugar Pines Farm from long-time owners Glenn and Carol Battles. We, Fritz and Jane Neubauer, now operate the farm with the help of our two young farmers, Fritz (III) and Sam.
We were both born and raised in the Cleveland area and have been proud Geauga county residents for more than fifteen years. Fritz is a “tree guy” by trade, operating Neubauer Land Management Company, a local tree service, since 1986. He is also a Certified Arborist, which is coming in pretty handy with this new venture. Jane most recently operated a market research and consulting firm for twelve years, bringing some marketing and general business skills to the table…make that, the barn.
Fritz (III), 13, is an avid outdoorsman and already a natural at tree farming. He’s skilled at driving the big tractor, splitting firewood, identifying trees, traversing the woods and streams……and eating candy canes. Look for him this season helping out in and around the barn!
Sam, 9, has the requisite energy level to participate in anything that requires covering a lot of ground in a short amount of time. He is Jane’s trusty sidekick for tree tagging and other farm activities and has ensured that all of the tree carts are able to operate at warp speed. He is also the child who keeps the “spirited” in holiday spirit.
Our first five years as owners of the farm has been nothing short of fantastic. We love everything about it, from working in the fields, to playing in the woods, and most of all, to seeing all of you at Christmas time when you come out to find your perfect tree. We look forward to another year of welcoming back familiar faces and meeting first time visitors as well.
Merry Christmas from our family to yours!
